JHC Grants and Bursaries

In recent years JHC has given a wide range of grants and bursaries to support the specific needs of schoolchildren, vulnerable adults and many more.

The charity can provide grants for essential items (Sawston clients only) as well as emotional support and is always a friendly place to visit to if you have family problems. This service is totally confidential and the only people that need to know are those that you choose to tell.

Individuals and families

JHC has grants available for individuals and families who are on low incomes. All you have to do is ring us on 01223 492492 to arrange an appointment with one of our friendly support workers.

Grants are given for a variety of essential items including cookers, washing machines or beds. And JHC will give grants for school trips and school uniforms as well as sometimes providing assistance towards nursery or playgroup fees.

Would your group like to join the JHC small grant programme where you would be eligible for a grant of £150 – £200 per year for a period of three years? In order to widen our support for the community, JHC is giving small grants to groups and organisations that operate in Sawston.

We are fast-tracking these applications so, instead of completing our normal grant application form, we would just like you to write in to JHC answering one simple question: ‘What difference would this money make to your group?’

JHC Trustees will usually consider one application a year from each group, and all grants are subject to the availability of funds. Unfortunately the scheme doesn’t cover sports projects at the moment.

If you have a project in mind, or would like to discuss your outline ideas initially, please get in touch with Jill Hayden on 01223 492492.
